Ymca of the triangle customer reviews

It’s a fine place. Good to have multiple locations and plenty of equipment. The fact they adhere to the mask mandates in the area is a joke…they have lost their backbone in my opinion and are more concerned with not ruffling feathers than they are following the science. Update…they’ve gone totally woke. Children at risk of being misgendered and you may see a male appendage in the women’s room. Corporate has not returned multiple, dispassionate and earnest phone calls on these issues.

Just received a letter in the mail informing us that our membership fees are increasing my 11.4% This is the 2nd increase within the last year. Unfortunately, my family and I can not afford the increasing cost of the Y and will have to terminate our membership. This is sad news since we left a previous gym to help reduce our family bills. This is not good for our family!

We used the weekly after school program for my son for the 2021-2022 school year and were able to sign him up for a day here and there as we needed it. For our family, it was a better fit than paying for the annual option. I went to sign him up for the same program for this 2022-2023 school year, and was not able to just do 1 day, which is sometimes all that we need. I went ahead and decided to sign him up for 2 days because he loves attending the program. I went to checkout and the price had more than doubled from what 2 days cost us last year. ZERO communication had been sent out about the new 2 day minimum and the price increase. I understand a price increase per day, however requiring 2 days per week is unacceptable. If there are no spots open because I'm trying to get childcare for one afternoon, then that should fall on me. I shouldn't be told I HAVE TO sign up for 2 days. It states on the website that the cost per week for a participant is $83. If that's divided by 5 days, that's roughly $16 dollars/day. However, if you sign up for the required 2 days on the site, you're charged $54. This is because they increase the price for each additional day now and there is a deposit that needs to be paid each week you sign up. Even if you sign up for multiple weeks at a time, they still charge you a deposit for each week. Very disappointed in this program and the Y in general. I had debated on signing my son up for summer camps with them, but my money will now go to a different program.

My daughter is in after school care in which she could not attend due to being unexpectedly hospitalized. When I reached out about assistance I was told that they would not switch weeks for care due to policy that does not mention hospitalization specifically. As a organization that is supposed to be for the community seems more about the profit than helping a family in need.

I don't like how the Y makes you pay for an entire membership. My time is as such that I could still come to the water aerobics class like I used to. I don't want to pay a full membership for just one class. It used to be where you could purchase a punch card, go to the class, get in the steam room afterwards. AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!!!! I want the powers-that-be to really consider having "a la carte" services. I have two more people in my community who wants this as well and I am sure there are more. We are near the Danville Virginia YMCA.

Their scheduling practices leave a lot to be desired. No consideration for peoples time. If you are waitlisted for a class don't expect any confirmation...
