Toronto Don Valley Hotel & Suites

This place is a public safety hazard. My husband and I were trapped in elevator 2 of this hotel going down from the 3rd floor to the pool. The elevator stopped and didn’t open the door. No matter what buttons I pressed, it wouldn’t move or open. Very scary. There was no alarm or emergency button to press to call for help. They literally taped up a whole panel of elevator buttons (see pics below). Luckily I had brought my phone and it had battery and a tiny signal that allowed me to call the front desk. Waited a while after they said they would get maintenance with no update so I called back. Eventually they reset the elevator and it moved down to the lobby floor and opened the door. I mentioned this issue to the front desk 3 times to put a sign to say the elevator was out of order but they didn’t do anything. When I finally brought it up to a manager, they simply said “the elevator is working now so no problem”. Then I asked them why is there no alarm to press if it happens again. Still answer is “it’s fine. Elevator is working. The taped up buttons is for housekeeping”(whatever that means). This place is a health hazard and needs to be shut down. They have zero regard for guests’ safety and don’t care about you at all. I will never come back here and will report this safety incident to the city. Hopefully no one else gets trapped and has a medical issue.

Feb. 8th was the first time I ever stayed at this Hotel. My purpose was to get some R&R and quiet time. Much to my disappointment, I couldn't believe the amount of noise at this hotel. Upon checking into my room, I was first put in Room 217 then to be moved to Room 422 after I complained to Management about the noise level. Moving to Room 422 didn't make any difference at all. So I will not be staying at this Hotel again. However, I do want to recognize the following individuals who made my stay so memorable. Danny (bartender), Sylvie (Bartender), Elvin (Room Service), and Rachelle (Front Desk Manager). Thank you for your great customer service!

Strictly no smoking but people ignore it, our hall smelled like cigarette when we got back from our outing. Our room was clean otherwise, and the front desk staff were wonderful!! No breakfast buffet as advertised, but there was a $14 eggs, bacon, toast option that we were happy with.

This is a cool place to take the load off and relax a bit. It has a beautiful pool which I liked. The colours in the hotel I detest. The floor rug design and color makes it appear dirty and uneven. The overall appearance of the hotel is not inviting. Yeah, I think it would be worth the money to change that. Thank you

Went to this hotel to stay for 1 night on a trip. The customer service was terrible, the lady in the front was on her phone and did not say a word to us, even when we came up-to her, furthermore, saying greeting her, she completely ignored us, after she was done texting on her phone she said “what type of room do you want” no greetings. Furthermore, the room was very dated, looks like 1990s inside the rooms. Our rooms wardrobe was broken, and bathroom didn’t have amenities. The phone to call room service was broken additionally. Moreover the hallways smelt really bad. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all, could find many options at the same price range that would provide quality service and better rooms.

The hotel is VERY expensive for the quality you receive. On booking websites, it is advertised as free breakfast but unfortunately that is not the case....

Stayed here for one night so we didn't have to travel in the snow storm. The hotel was just ok. Needs a good update. The carpets are old and the decor....
