The Rex

The Rex is an absolute gem of a restaurant! From the moment you walk in, the ambiance sets the tone for an unforgettable evening. The live jazz elevates the dining experience to another level. The musicians are nothing short of magical, weaving together melodies that transport you to another world. Tonight, I was particularly captivated by the saxophone—each note seemed to dance through the air, wrapping around the delicious aromas of the food. The service was fantastic; attentive yet unobtrusive, making sure our glasses were always full and our needs met. If you're looking for a place where great food meets extraordinary music, look no further than The Rex. It’s an experience that lingers long after you leave. Highly recommend!

It was a great experience. Well priced. We were concerned about being able to hear the jazz club but we couldn’t hear them from the room at all. It was a cool old building with great art everywhere. We had a shared bathroom situation but never had to wait to use it. So that was great. The location was perfect for our concert, a short walk away from the Rogers centre Enjoyed our stay

Stayed here for the Eras tour and was really glad to find a place close by for a reasonable price! Very friendly staff, reasonable prices, and includes some coffee/tea/juice and toast each morning with your stay. I appreciated the heaters in each room that kept us cozy. It is a charming place with lots of character! It is definitely older and right downtown, so there will be some noise outside your window. Overall, great bang for your buck!

We didn't try the hotel, but we were there for the jazz club portion of the Rex. It was a fun night, there were multiple groups playing for the cover charge. Was well worth it. It's a cozy place, the staff are quick, attentive, and friendly. Would definitely go again.

Jazz bar with live music and $10 cover! Very nice atmosphere. 5:30-7:30 on Mondays. Tables face towards the performers. Wide selection of beers, ciders, drinks, and food (typical bar selection + soup of the day vibes). Got sushed a lot in our group, but we were probably being a bit too loud (although we were at the very back and whispering). In any case very pleasant, affordable, good way to wind down!
