The Rex

Stayed here for the Eras tour and was really glad to find a place close by for a reasonable price! Very friendly staff, reasonable prices, and includes some coffee/tea/juice and toast each morning with your stay. I appreciated the heaters in each room that kept us cozy. It is a charming place with lots of character! It is definitely older and right downtown, so there will be some noise outside your window. Overall, great bang for your buck!

It was a great experience. Well priced. We were concerned about being able to hear the jazz club but we couldn’t hear them from the room at all. It was a cool old building with great art everywhere. We had a shared bathroom situation but never had to wait to use it. So that was great. The location was perfect for our concert, a short walk away from the Rogers centre Enjoyed our stay

Thank- you to Oliver and Bobby and the staff at The Rex. Great place to stay..everything is there. Room was clean and comfortable. Lunch downstairs was delicious and the jazz set that played through lunch was beautiful. I think I have found my new favorite place to stay whenever we travel to Toronto again. The staff are all wonderful and helpful and everything is within walking distance. Check them out. An absolute Toronto gem !!

Went on a weekday night. A jazz band was playing. We paid 15$ cover to sit in the back and listen to a random jazz band which I think was a bit expensive. The food was a bit expensive but good and large portion. The tofu sandwich was amazing and delicious! Great service. Cool vibe from the venue.

Didn't visit the bar but stayed in the hotel. God DANG this place is quaint. Inexpensive AND super convenient location on Queen West, just steps away from the TTC. My room was so cute and cozy. The decor seemed a little random and mismatched, but I didn't care about that. Was two floors above the bar so sound wasn't a problem. Window opens for fresh air, which I liked. Decent cable TV selection. I arrived pretty early and asked about bag storage. To my delight, they were already able to get me checked in. It was my first visit to TO since before the pandemic, when I used to stay in a no-longer-existent hostel on the other side of downtown (RIP HI). This might just be my new go-to spot in the city. I did overhear the live music from the bar as I was coming and going. It sounded good. Maybe if I have more time at my next visit I'll actually take the time to stop down there and take it in.
