The Golden Crown Hotel

It's probably the best 5-star hotel in Kandy. Great location a few kilometres away from Kandy city. Great staff and fabulous food. They have one of the best housekeeping staff. Has a very good fitness centre. Great rooftop pool. Comfortable 5 star room in their new wing opened recently .

My family and I had a wonderful time, and I'd like to commend several aspects of our visit: Welcome and Service: Shiva, the gentleman who welcomed us, is truly outstanding. He ensured that our rooms were ready promptly and made us feel at home right from the start. His hospitality was greatly appreciated. Rooms: The rooms were excellent, located in the new wing. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. We were very pleased with the accommodations Restaurant: During our meals—lunch, Christmas Eve dinner, and breakfast the following day—we were fortunate to be served by another wonderful gentleman who went out of his way to ensure we had a great dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious and tasty. Spa: It was great. Swing pool: what a great view. However, I would like to point out a gap we noticed the following day in the restaurant service. While the food quality remained great, the level of service didn’t match what we experienced earlier in our stay. Overall, thank you for the excellent food and fantastic rooms.

Loved the hotel for its great facilities. It took us a little while to work out where the two pools were but they were excellent as well as chilling by their bars. The buffet dinner was a bit full on especially with the singer adding to the cacophony of noise. Food was lovely though and service excellent. We didn’t think the older tower rooms looked shabbie and wouldn’t be concerned which tower we were in once we learned where pools and bars were. Location is a bit out of town but surreal looking down on rice paddies from your infinity pool.

We had the worst experience at this hotel during my stay. It started with the room allocation—we specifically requested a twin room but were given a double room instead. The staff assured us they would change it, but that never happened. The nightmare continued with the in-room dining service. After a long day of sightseeing, I requested a menu for in-room dining, but it took 45 minutes to even receive it. Frustrated, I had to go to the front desk to get it myself. The food I ordered at 11:30 PM was delivered at 2:30 AM, after several trips to the front desk and restaurant to follow up. Even then, the food was cold and unappetizing. The night staff was clearly understaffed and overwhelmed, with multiple guests shouting at the front desk due to similar issues. The compensation offered for this ordeal was a joke and did nothing to make up for the sleepless night and ruined experience. This hotel clearly lacks basic organization, staffing, and professionalism. If you value good service and comfort, I highly recommend avoiding this place.

Went here for a day while on visit to Sri Lanka. The hotel is nestled between a valley in Kandy and it’s a cosy, warm and comfortable place. Rooms are pretty large, decent view. Staff is warm, helpful and courteous. What stands out is the food at their restaurant. The spread for dinner and breakfast is really huge and is worth a meal. While vegetarian options looks less but if you eat everything it’s a delight to have multiple cuisines here. Dinner and breakfast both were memorable with warm and helpful staff. Dinner also had nice live music and singer was pretty good. Infinity pool is super too, took a dip in morning and was refreshing.
