Sound Physicians

Dr. Starr was brought in as a consulting physician while I was in ICU for DKA. He was rude, unhelpful, smug, arrogant and, as it turns out, not at all a good physician. He continually talked to the nurse as if I wasn’t in the room, accused me of being anxious about medical care when I said I’d been taken off Metformin due to extremely negative digestive tract issues as well as the advice of my nephrologist. He claimed I didn’t have CKD, even though I’ve had the labs to support that diagnosis for ten years including the hospital lab results. And, he failed to diagnose the chronic cough I’d been plagued with as the fault of Lisinopril. It took the last doctor to see me in the hospital about 10 seconds to nail it. Problem solved. He botched the insulin dosing for the first three days and the new doctor had to start over again. Magically, my numbers finally came down. This guy is a quack. But he’s more dangerous than that. He’s an incompetent who thinks he’s god.

So a hospital these physicians work at admitted a patient under my husbands name, date of birth and social security number. We found out pretty soon after and reported it. We don’t even live in the state where this patient was. I called the hospital billing dept to let them know not to bill under our insurance. Well sure enough this physician group has been billing us now 2 months later and texting my husband about it. Thankfully insurance denied it since I let them know a head of time. But when we call the physician group to stop using our insurance they don’t care and say it’s our insurance companies problem. Now the physicians may be great. Who knows. But billing dept is not great.

Hospitalist services were ok. But billing and communications suck per usual with these large multistate providers.

I was seen in the Presbyterian hospital by someone from this group during an emergency and was not aware of all of the groups or received a bill from this group. Due to the amount billed it was very minimal time. I saw two years later my credit score quickly dropped. I realized I had a collection for unpaid bills and when inquired it was determined they had mistyped the street address so the reason I had never know of the billing. They are in the process of correcting but in the meantime will have a negative impact on my credit until it is all removed.

This group sent me a bill for services never rendered, refused to respond to my requests for CPT codes, physician name, and date of service, and sent the bill to collections rather than to my insurance company. If any of their so called healthcare providers were actually involved in the awful experience I had with NE Baptist Hospital, each of them needs to be reported to their licensing boards. Their refusal to provide actual care resulted in permanent neurological damages. We cannot have these groups preying on vulnerable patients.
