Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q

Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q is a huge restaurant that offers a taste of Texas-style BBQ and I got to experience this during a recent work trip to Colorado Springs. I came here during a cold day and was warmed by the comforting ambiance that Rudy’s offered. Walking in, to the left was a little section where items can be purchased. A few more steps and there is a metal trough full of ice and cold drinks like chilled beer. It even had rows of bags of chips. They also have a refrigerated section with potato salad and other cold sides. There is a large menu board above the counter where you place orders. The orders come out in these durable trays where you can take it to the cart full of condiments, which had pickles, sliced onions, pickled veggies, chilis, and others. It also has napkins and trays to put the veggies in. It is all pretty much self-service after you place your orders. They also have a soda fountain with the usual drinks. You can choose to sit inside the main restaurant or in the closed-in patio or outdoors when the weather permits. We chose to sit in the closed-in patio to look at the snow while we ate. I ordered the BBQ Brisket Sandwich and it was a little on the dry side. It did have a good smoky flavor to it. Adding a combination of Rudy’s Bar- BQ Sause and the Sissy Sauce, along with some pickles and onions made the brisket sandwich much better. I got to try a piece of the jalapeño sausage and that was delicious! Just the right amount of heat. I also liked their potato salad. Overall, this was a cool spot to check out for lunch. It has just about everything you need for BBQ, the portions are large, there’s plenty of seating, and the ambiance was chill!

We decided to stop by Rudy’s for lunch after it was recommended by a friend, and it turned out to be a rather interesting and enjoyable experience. The menu was fun to read, and I opted for the turkey sandwich while my husband tried the spicy chop sandwich. Both were absolutely delicious, and the barbecue sauce was perfect. We also sampled the potato salad, which was incredible, but the bean salad wasn’t quite to our liking. It had a mix of green beans, red beans, and chickpeas—an unusual combination for barbecue, but it did have a unique taste. I appreciated that the condiments were available right at the table, so there was no need to get up for more. The food was served on an interesting tray, adding a unique touch to the meal. They offer a variety of drink options, both bottled and fountain, and there’s even a cute boutique store where you can pick up novelty items like T-shirts or a bottle of their barbecue sauce. For those with a sweet tooth, they also offer ice cream. While the overall experience was great, I felt the customer service could have been better. The cashier seemed a bit unsure and didn’t really help us with our order, which left us a bit uncertain. Overall, Rudy’s offers a delicious meal with some unique touches, though there’s room for improvement in customer service.

I liked it. It was a fun place to eat and my food was good. I tried their regular BBQ sauce and Sissy Sauce as well. Honestly I couldn't tell a difference between the two, maybe more pepper flakes in the original? Overall I would not hesitate to come back to try more on the menus. I had the potato with brisket and pulled pork on it.

Really good setup to order food and them you can go sit down. It was really busy today with the line out the door. The employee taking our order was really nice and explained everything to us. Although it was really busy, tables turn over quickly. The food was okay. I personally had the jumbo smoked potato with pulled pork. Even with the butter and sour cream, the potato was really dry. I ended up putting some of the Rudy bean juice to help. I am glad we tried it, but not a place we will go back. Obviously this place is a hit since there was a line out the door for most of our visit (just not my cup of tea when it comes to bbq)

This place is Rocks; you can smell the smoke and taste it in the food. If you are not convinced, please look at the parking lot; it is packed with cars, and there is a wrap-around line (that moves fast) when you finally find someplace to park and walk in. I got 1 1/2 lbs of Moist Brisket, Slab of Ribs, and two sausages; it's delicious! It is good we are from Virginia and do not have one nearby, or I would be there several days a week.
