Mission Bay Inn San Diego

Nice place, but on the pricey side. It's hard for me as a local-ish to want to spend so much money to be on the water and in San Diego. I'm spoiled living by the water with incredible weather year round. That said, the hotel is oddly arrange, the front desk you can almost miss. The rooms are arrange in spread out buildings. Was upgraded to bay view room with fireplace, that was nice. Though i probably would not pay for the extra wood if i was staying more than two nights. Nice view of the fireworks display from Sea World. Did not get to eat at the property other than the catered meals during the conference. With all the food options in Downtown SD we were more inclined to eat our dinners out. Overall a good place to visit/stay if you are not from SoCal.

So it’s not the most appealing.. planned a Vacay in SD when everyone is here for the summer and everything that is nicer is booked. So took a chance here since I already got approved PTO hours at work.. so here’s the run down of it.. Lots of PARKING!!!! So in case you don’t get parking in front of the room there is another lot with lighting that’s still on the premises. Just a small 1-2 minute walk, not that bad plus it’s FREE if you have a room here. Staff is Friendly- Rooms are kept clean, refreshed me with sheets, towels and empty the trash cans. So the rooms aren’t the latest and greatest but it’s clean and lots of other families stayed here too. Plus the complimentary breakfast literally saved me some $$$ not paying for breakfast. They have 2 waffle machines that you make your own waffles, cereals, fresh fruits, coffee, water, juices, and variety of pastries. I would stay here again… but I’d book a Double Tree before this place.

I am currently a guest at this hotel, checking in on 08/04/24, and although my reservation extends for another two days, I have decided to check out after tonight. I would strongly advise against staying here due to several issues. Upon entering the room, a strong unpleasant odor was immediately noticeable, and the carpet felt filthy underfoot, having to use shoes at all times. its obvious that the room is not regularly cleaned. The elevators are out of order and the bed sheets have a very musty smell. many of the outlets were non-functional, and I experienced severe itching upon lying on the bed. The bathroom was exceptionally small, and the entire establishment had a severe fishy smell. Overall, I was thoroughly disappointed.

My husband and I decided to get a suite and were put on the bottom floor in the corner with a single window that had prison bars on it. We had to pay a $15 dollar early fee and our trash can hadn't even been emptied. After taking a shower, walking on the carpet had our feet turning black. The carpet felt permanently sticky and the sink was always clogged. The pool looks like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. It's cloudy and full of bugs. The hot tub was the same but green! Out of the 6 pieces of equipment in the 'fitness center', only the treadmill worked. The rest were either broken or had no cables to plug it in. The elevator is broken and hasn't worked the entire two weeks we stayed. The front desk never answers the phone when I call multiple times. The only reason we stayed was because everywhere else was fully booked. You couldn't pay me to stay here again.

Well I guess no ownership doesn't always mean improvements. Been coming here for about 4 years. Not a great place but things weren't bad. Had a good breakfast. Decent internet and TV and things were ok. Now the Internet doesn't connect properly. The TV constantly freezes while watching and that if you even get a signal. Breakfast is down to oatmeal cereal and waffles. And the furniture is tweaked and the closet door was broken. Oh yea and half the parking lot is being blocked by construction cones during refurb. Who knows what this place will be like when they are finally done but at this point I'm not sure I'm willing to pay to find out. Too many other options and the best reason for staying here are currently not working or gone.
