Horizon blue cross blue shield of new jersey customer reviews

Do not get health insurance through this company—especially if you struggle with mental health. Their policies and practices are not just inefficient; they are outright dangerous. In one of the darkest times of my life, immediately after my mother’s passing, they abruptly cut off access to a life-saving medication I had been on for years—without notice. They continuously change the rules on how and when I can access critical, time-sensitive prescriptions, making an already difficult process nearly impossible. The people on the phone may sound friendly, but they do not listen, and they do not care. Filing a formal complaint? Not an option. They have built a system that ensures patients are unheard and powerless. To regain access to the medication that has kept me stable, I had to go through three separate appeals—each time being told I needed to retry ineffective generic alternatives, despite overwhelming medical evidence that they do not work for me. I have been navigating psychiatric medications for 25 years. My doctors have the data, the proof, the history—but none of it matters to this company. Because of their endless delays and denials, I have now missed the window to switch to a different provider, leaving me trapped in this nightmare until open enrollment in November. And for what? A cruel, bureaucratic game that prioritizes cost-cutting over human lives. It is already terrifying to be chronically ill in this country, especially under the current administration. The last thing I need is my insurance company making me fight just to stay alive—while politicians like RFK Jr. lurk in the background, waiting to strip away access to the medications keeping people like me functional. What they have done to me is unethical. No one should have to go through this.

easily the most incompetent group of people I've ever dealt with. Claims proceessed to the wrong insurance ID number (and denied medical care as a result.) Their NJwell program is a great incentive if handled by someone who has half a clue. It's downright scary how awful their customer is. Mistake after mistake. I have spent countless hours on the phone with them to correct issues, year after year.

Absolute scum of a company. They screw up my payment and don’t take payments from me for two months, never alerted me about it. Then when I went to get my medication my insurance wouldn’t cover it. So I go on find out I haven’t had my payments taken out, then pay them. All for my medication to still be astronomical in price after it was only supposed to be 25 dollars. And now no one’s around to help me? The whole medical field is nothing but a cash grab. You people are absolute scum buckets.

Horizon has gotten so bad was on hold for 45 minutes then to no avail they could not help me. I’ve been a member of horizon Blue Cross for nearly 40 years every time I get somebody to help me they’re not in this country when they are literally located 20 miles from my home. I think if horizon wants to have better customer service it should be People here in New Jersey I don’t know what else I could say except for this is the absolute worst they keep telling me that I have no referrals when I always have a referral. I have to call them up 20 minutes on hold and then oh wait they found the referral how how convenient I have to do somebody else’s job every single time for this company again we paid great money for this service and they suck. I need someone to please reach back to me cause I cannot get through to anybody on the phone that could help maybe a bad Google review might help who who knows I’m sure I’m not the only one with the same complaint. I need my medical supplies and they don’t have any record of me getting them for the past two years cause somebody’s been paying a bill. I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I’m just a stupid old man but God dammit this is ridiculous.

I’ll preface this saying all American health care providers are absolutely horrible and sadly this one is the best option. They make u pay monthly premiums to deny every claim you make. Once you call to find out why said claims aren’t paid instead of getting to the bottom of it themselves, they give you an objective to complete essentially doing their jobs for them. They needed paper work for my newborn son that he wasn’t covered under my wife’s insurance policy which also did not even exist. (Had to contact that insurance company for official paper work and they gave me an extremely hard time). Another example, I see one out of network doctor I paid 100% of payments out of pocket and for them to reimburse me they needed that out of network provider to register as an out of network provider… (I found out all this information after the claims were countless denied and after hours on the phone)Leaving the tasks of bothering doctors and all this behind the scene paper work and emailing for me while I already pay them hundreds every month. If they tell you they won’t pay, fight em tooth and nail until they do.
