Green tortoise sf customer reviews

I love the Green Tortoise hostel so much and it will hold a special place in my heart. This is the first time I was visiting SF at a travel hostel, and I had no idea what to expect. But the Green Tortoise is the best place for newcomers and travelers. I met incredible people here and the staff were amazing as well. Sarah was incredibly kind and helpful. She brightened my day at 7am when I’d be getting out early to go to work. If you are new to SF, Green Tortoise is the place you need to stay at.

Nice little place with a good atmosphere. The staff were super helpful, personally walking us down to our room in their annex building a few blocks away from the main one when we checked in. We stayed in a private room, which was clean and cozy and had a great view. The only issue was that one of the windows wouldn't close all the way, leaving a half-centimeter gap through which cold air could get in, but the heating in the room was easily able to compensate. The communal bathroom is very clean and well-kept, and the shower is pretty large and nice. I didn't make much use of the kitchen, but it seemed decent as well. The location is pretty convenient, with transit options in walking distance. Chinatown is nearby, which was super cool for us since our first night was coincidentally the lunar new year. Not the quietest, but perfectly reasonable. The website is also definitely not lying when it mentions proximity to strip clubs, which aren't of interest to me but are certainly amusing to see so densely packed!

Classic place! I've come here off and on for eons. It is in an old building, over several floors - so get ready for stairs. It has a very relaxed vibe, and is a great place to meet people - more so than other hostels. Funkier than most as well. The main meeting room is epic and has many amenities. The rooms are small, but the facilities were all clean. Parking - like almost everywhere is SF - is tough: they don't have their own, but recommend local places. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

What a great 1 night stay at a beautiful hostel. Friendly staff and very clean. I chanced into arriving on their once weekly free dinner and walked right into a delicious warm meal. They have a huge common area well set up for social or alone time. A large and clean kitchen as well a pool table, ping pong and arcade games. I made use of the Sauna both that night and the morning I left. Its clean, private, and heats up quick. I would definitely stay here again.

Impeccable hostel. From the outside, the building might seem dated, but I must say the interior is very well-maintained. The common areas are beautiful and spacious, with a large kitchen where you can cook. Every morning, there’s a small but very good free breakfast. The rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable. The beds are sturdy and don’t make any noise. The bathrooms are shared, but I was surprised by how clean they were—always spotless. Every evening, they host some kind of event, including free dinners, which is quite rare. The location is very convenient—you can easily explore the entire city center on foot. I’d gladly stay here again.
