DEAM

Deam provides lunches to homeless 5 days a week and free grocery shopping in the food pantry weekly. Staffed by compassionate volunteers and supported by community churches.

Going here was the most embarrassing, degrading & inhumane community service establishment that I've ever experienced. So, I researched food pantries near me & come across DEAM. I call & the lady tells me to come at 11. (Using my last gas), I drive 15 minutes there. As soon as I get there, the lady asks for my zip code & then proceeded to tell me that I'm not in "they're" area to receive food. She also admits that she should've asked me that on the phone. Still they refused to serve me! They also refused to serve an homeless person that was there as well. I understand that you serve certain areas but it was YOUR fault that you didn't let me know on the phone. They have stockpiles of food there's hardly anyone there, so who are you serving?? Yourselves!! An office full of Caucasian women sitting high & looking low on you just to serve the people that they "DEAM" is good enough to receive assistance. It's honestly like taking a starving person to a buffet & telling them that they can't eat!! SMH. Try hiring some people with humanity that actually wants to help the community because this place is pathetic. Times are hard, please don't make it harder.

I was sent here by 2 government agencies. Had to get a ride there then ne and my kid sat and waited for 1 hour. Lady came to door called our num er and began bellowing out that they couldnt and wouldnt help us with food because i hadnt printed out bills and the we were not in that zip code which on my resource lost i was given it doesnt say anything about zip codes. Also there were folks there that had cars full of stuff from other places but me and my kid were sent away crying . The woman in office have no compassion they dont like what they do and it shows in how they treat and talk to people. How can you sit in a church but judge and side eye folks who apparently want to help?

I called this morning to get added to the list and was told they wouldn't be able to assist me become I am homeless and don't have an address and when she knew me from coming there a couple years ago and to get food that they didn't have an address than so what is wrong here with you discriminating against me when didn't give me eggs when I was coming there before you suppose to be Godly when you are not God will show me favor and others who are homeless and will show you about yourselves when he does I hope and pray itt be known to all

They do NOT help with hotel/motel vouchers or homeless prevention. Only food pantry and utility assistance...
