Community First Health Plans

I am only leaving one star because zero stars are not an option. As a Billing Manager for a practice that accepts Community First I can tell you that in my regular dealings with 100+ insurance companies this one is the worst. If you care about your health or the health of your children I would beg to use anything else besides Community First. Their authorization requirements are built in a way that are an inconvenience to both the patients and providers that see them. Often forcing unnecessary and extraneous follow-up visits due to procedures that are typical and covered by every other Medicaid payer to obtain prior authorization or they won't be paid. If you ask the state Medicaid office, they will usually swap your Medicaid payer, exercise that right if you got stuck with these folks.

A very good experience and seriously impressive. We feel relieved our insurance company is a true team. Naomi really was determined to assist and made the notes urgent and fast enough to have Jose call me and my wife back actually while we were still talking to Naomi . Jose took care of getting us the standard information needed as part of our insurance. Greatly recommended.

Superior health plan star plus was a great Medicaid program but now I have to deal with community first worse Medicaid that I feel that care of my mental health needs and health at all they don’t get back to me they don’t get me my behavior health coordinator they give me the runaround I’m still waiting for my medical supplie instead of my wellbeing and mental health care I’m getting worse with all this frustration that this insurance making go through Have one star because didn’t have a choice

I have been referred to see an ENT doctor but there is an over-month waiting list because the ENT doctor I need to see practices only two days a month in Community First Health Network. so I referred them last November my appointment was set up for March 2024 I requested from the community first to see an ENT outside the network, but they refused. By the way, I called some ENT offices in San Antonio, and I was told by two different ENTs they do not accept community-first medical insurance. I asked the community's first health manager to find an ENT for me, but as of today (01/24/2024) they have not found any who accept my insurance. I believe the community first health plan is the worst medical insurance in San Antonio.

Worst medicaid ever. Member services are no help at all. I have different PCPs on file that I NEVER even seen before. Ive been hung up on & there are zero benefits provided to me on my plan. I am a pregnant woman on this medicaid plan with no help at all! Please choose a different plan for you & your baby! I am already in process of switching plans. I wish I would have read the reviews before choosing.
