Browns restaurant group customer reviews

I come to the Upper Lonsdale location pretty often and would consider myself a regular. I’ve always loved this location and never had an issue until today (09/21/2020). We placed an order over the phone for pick up for three of us. After getting home we discovered that half the order was missing. So we contact the restaurant to get the order sorted out, and they were great about it at first. They offered to bring the order out to us (Which we said no we’ll come pick it up). We requested that the whole order be made from scratch and they were happy to do that because of how much time had past. Upon returning the manager gave us a bag which we assumed was the fresh order, and a gift card for $20 which was a nice gesture. Of course we get back to the car and double check the order this time. To our surprise it was not a fresh order it was the second part of our original order that had been sitting under the heat lamp for almost an hour. At this point were pretty disappointed. Up to now, we were quite friendly and understanding of the situation. Mistakes happen. We go back in, and insist that they make the whole order fresh, to which they begrudgingly complied after questioning why the quality of the food wasn’t good enough and that they “gave us a $20 gift card and we should be happy”. Well over an hour and 30 minutes had past at this point. To our surprise after receiving a 3rd bag of food, we discovered it was the original order in a new bag, the food was absolutely disgusting as it had been sitting under the heat lamp the entire time. At this point we gave up and just went home. We didn’t not want a $20 gift on $70 worth of food, what we did want was our food to be made fresh the first time, and for the staff to own up to their mistake, drop the attitude toward their customers and make the situation right which they did not do, now we have a $20 gift card and no intention of returning. This was a super disappointing experience when all they need to do was make the order fresh, not hide it in a new bag. I would also like to add that the service staff were all friendly and professional, it was the night manager that we had problems with. She was the one that was unprofessional and rude, and she is the reason we will not be returning to this location.

Tons of breakfast/lunch places on the island, but why not do Brown's for both... everyday! They don't miss on anything they do. And their donuts......

This spot has very good food yet the service leaves a lot to be desired. Perhaps our server was inexperienced however, we were not offered the Wine and Beer Menus until well into our dinner which was unfortunate since we would have gotten a bottle at the beginning. The venue is very loud so it is not a place for romance. Pack your patience if you visit. As stated, the food is worth the visit.

Exceptional Dinner -- I love the dinner menu (I am normally here for lunch) so much more. Really terrific and one I will share with our guests when they ask for a wonderful fine dining experience.

Harry Browne's has a long term good reputation. However, a friend and I have been there recently and were very disappointed. The pork chop I had was so tough that I could barely find any part of it to eat. My friend's steak was overdone and tasteless. I don't know what has happened to the once-great restaurant. Maybe concentrating too much on weddings and other events.

We celebrated our anniversary with a small vacation and Harry Browne's was the restaurant that most felt like a romantic anniversary meal. We were seated in a back corner, very private, at a low lit white tableclothed table. Our server asked if we were celebrating anything special and we told her "anniversary." What is strange is that the restaurant did nothing with this information. I don't expect free food, but I thought they would at least write out "Happy Anniversary" on our dessert plate. But there was no further mention of it, which made us wonder why she bothered to ask. This however did not detract from our meal. I had the Chicken Milanese. The chicken cutlet itself could have used a little more flavor, but when eaten together with the salad and sauce on top, it was quite tasty. My husband had swordfish (a special of the night) and claimed it was the best swordfish he's had in years (melt in your mouth good)! For dessert we shared a Flan, which was very nicely plated. And my husband was pleased that his double expresso came with a lemon peel. I do think there is some room for improvement at this restaurant, but reading the reviews makes me think they went through a rough patch, and are now back on the upswing. In any case, my husband and I enjoyed our romantic dinner. (One note: the bathrooms are up a flight of stairs and would be a problem for anyone who has trouble with stairs.)

The Margarita pizza was the best! Be sure to visit the bar upstairs. The bartenders are great and very welcoming.
