I have been a member for 15+ years and to have them drastically cut my credit limit in half and cause me to go over the limit on my credit card. Then it effects my credit score which I have always worked hard at always keeping it good. Then I go online and read all the other people this just happened to during their shopping on Black Friday. (decline, decline, decline). And WITHOUT NOTICE. Oh we are sorry. The letter is on its way in the mail with an explanation. We are doing Market evaluations and yes we cut a lot of peoples credit limits. Your not the only one that is upset by this....UMMM..is that supposed to make me feel better. Well you can do the application for an increase. I honestly couldn't believe it. I will be moving my business else where soon.

Update: Contacted the e mail given in the response from the owner below last week and received no response, a common theme I've noticed when contacting BECU! This bank is great if you like having your identity stolen and then receive no help after. I have been telling all friends and family and posting on social media avoid this bank! A fraudulent account was opened in my name because this bank was too lazy to check ID for people applying to credit cards and its completely messed up my ability to get a loan to fix my home. I've been trying for over a week to find resolution and providing paperwork and ID and am told they didn't receive anything and to "keep calling and trying" and given no support or timeline for a resolution I have filed formal complaints against this business in Oregon and Washington and really hope their gross negligence is followed up with. I feel bad for people banking here there are better banks out there seriously, check out First Tech they are way better!

This is the sketchiest bank I have ever used in 30+ years. The reason they advertise so much is because they have to make up for their horrendous business practices. This is not a “good” credit union, this is a sketchy, predatory institution that steals money right out of your account to pay their own credit card. Then they proceed to regularly report inaccurate reports to all credit bureaus. Do yourself the biggest favor and bank literally anywhere else. BECU makes Wells Fargo look like a saint.

To BECU CORPORATE & to THE PUBLIC PSA: I recently experienced a hardship regarding your policy with bill payment. I pay my rent through your institution and as you can understand that rent is top priority for anyone. I am not in the affluent category but I am responsible and what happened made me look irresponsible. Which makes me have to work 3x harder to build trust with my landlord. Situation was this- I send through your bill pay to my landlord on the 25th of every month. This time (November) my check never made it to them. I gave time to see if it would show up. By December 5th I decided to go to the branch to investigate what happened. I was not upset but concerned. This is the part that upset me. Your bill pay is a free service which I appreciate fully… despite other fees I endure through your institution I am grateful. However my $1800 was not in my account bc it was processed. The solution that was offered to cover the expense that is my rent was to take money out my envelope system and use all of that to pay again- $3600- which left me paying an additional $1800 to get my rent paid. That didn’t include the late fees I was charged bc the check never arrived. Be it the post office losing it or whatever… your institution did not offer to give me back my money and bc you outsource your bill pay I had to wait over the weekend. The monies were put back on Tuesday. Now it may be not a big deal to the big guys at the top ($3600) to not think that much money is a big deal but I do not make their extravagant amounts of money like they do. This was a mental hardship plus I have other bills to pay. The issue is that had I not had the money in other accounts your institution would not allow for replacing the funds, despite having the know how that the money was out in limbo. Why would that be an issue in the first place. Your policy is abhorrent and your staff have to be the bearer of upholding this terrible policy which is unfair to them and me. My mental health was disrupted massively and your big guys at the top should consider this as you move forward in your membership data and disclose to the public that this policy and procedure is how your institution manages bill pay. If there was ever a reason to not bank with you this is it. The issues and grief this caused me has been nothing but sheer defeat. The lesson here for me is to always remember this incident and how horrible it was for me, the representative and my reputation with my landlord has left me with wondering where the accountability lies. Additionally, I do not feel psychologically safe being a part of your institution with my hard earned measly income. How uncomfortable I feel to buy a home or car or take a personal loan in the future with your institution is not going to be an option moving forward. I will share this incident with everyone I know. It will make a difference since your institution started as word of mouth that’s how it will be handled when things this unfortunate happen. Kudos to Mason for their TLC at the Silverdale branch and it’s a shame that you allow this to happen to any of your so called important members. My hope in my time spent dealing with this and the hardship I felt throughout this process will hopefully shed some light on changes you can make. You all have the upper hand here and that mentality does not fit your mission statement. That is disheartening to say the least. 12/16/24

this place is absolutely the worst! Not only did they give such a low interest rate on checking and saving accounts during the pandemic, while making mass profits I'm sure, now they refuse to help with a medical check I wrote and was deposited in the wrong account. I had to pay twice. Their excuse is "we're not a bank we're a credit union" Really???? No legal service? Really??? And don't believe them when they say "free checking". It costs a bundle to reorder checks!!!!
