This place has really changed over the years. My husband and I sat at the bar to have a few drinks before heading home. We noticed our drink of choice, long island ice tea, was made extremely fast. I saw the bartender pour something out of one bottle but not multiple. For those that don't know this drink should be made with vodka, rum, gin, tequila, triple sec and a splash of coke. I asked another bartender if theirs were pre-made and she held up a basically store bought bottle of the cheapest of the cheap mix. The drinks were $9 a piece and to make matters worse they included gratuity! After eating and drinking at this establishment for over 20 years I will never ever return.

We did a takeout order and will never do it again. The food was good but they add a 18% gratuity on take out orders! Way to much of a tip for takeout. There is a sign as you enter that after 4PM 18% gratuity is added to all bills but I never expected it to be put on a takeout order. This was not mentioned when we called in our order.

I came here today with my daughter. It took an inordinate amount of time to even be acknowledged once we were sat. When the server did come, she was very nice and recommended a drink from cocktail menu at my request. I asked for a tequila that was of a better quality to be substituted. They did not have that particular liquor and she recommended one they they did have. The drink was horrible. returned the drink. They also brought out horribly torched/burnt grilled oysters that they knew were burnt and still served. I did not return them and ate the very rubbery oysters. Long story short, they still charged me for the drink and the oysters (although they did send more home with me that did not request). I spoke with the manager, Mike, about this and he is probably the most incompetent manager I've ever contacted. He never even acknowledged or apologized for the oysters that he was well aware should have never gone out. All in all, go across the street to a better restaurant but the service is lacking here folks. Never again.

Even though I’m frequently in Memphis and lived there for many years, this was my first visit to the Half Shell. It was really good! Our server was attentive and helpful. Fresh, piping hot, and well-prepared sums up our meals. We shared a fried mushroom appetizer - the best I’ve had. The crab cakes were delicious, and I was glad I ordered the Italian spinach - tasty with a slight spicy zing. My friends enjoyed their saucy shrimp and grits, served with planks of browned grits, and Boston stuffed shrimp. We will be back!

We were invited to a birthday party which was held in a back room. Laura was an accommodating server and was working hard. I ordered a turkey reuben which was quite adequate and friend went for a grilled amberjack sandwich. Both came with sides, and we opted for the broccoli which came as enormous steamed portions. On a Saturday evening, this place was packed probably because the food is tasty, the menu offers a wide selection and the prices are reasonable.
